St James the Apostle
Collect Grant, O merciful God, that as thine holy Apostle Saint James, leaving his father and all that he had, without delay was obedient unto the calling of thy Son Jesus Christ and followed him; so we, forsaking all worldly and carnal affections, may be evermore ready to follow thy holy commandments; through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Epistle Acts 11: 27 and part of Chapter 12 Gospel St Matthew 20:20
New Ring of Twelve Bells for St Michael’s The joyful news is that our benefactor, Dr Dill Faulkes has offered to provide a new ring of bells for us to replace the rather indifferent ring which we have at present. The Chancellor of the Diocese has issued a Faculty to permit this installation. The cost, £182,000, is being met by Dr Faulkes and his associates. Three of the old bells are to be kept and it is hoped that St Michael’s congregation might raise an additional £10,000 to retain these three oldest bells (1728) and to provide a chiming hammer so that a bell may be rung from the nave to announce services. Contributions gratefully accepted. Please contact the Rector
